A cozy, aromatic cocktail for cold nights: bourbon layered with Benedictine, winter-spice syrup, bright orange, and smoky sage, served over one large ice cube. Perfect for the winter holidays and ready in about 10 minutes.

Instructions
In a shaker, add the bourbon, Benedictine, syrup, and 2-3 ice cubes. Shake well.
Prepare a chilled rocks glass.
Optionally, smoke the glass with dry sage: place a few leaves on a cutting board and light them with a small torch or a matchstick, then set the chilled glass over them upside down and let the smoke fill the glass. This step is optional, but it adds to the experience.
Flip the glass, add the large ice sphere or cube, then pour the cocktail from the shaker through a strainer into the glass.
Add an orange wedge and garnish with orange zest and a sage leaf.
Notes
Benedictine is made with honey, so this drink is vegetarian rather than vegan; for a vegan version, swap in a honey-free herbal liqueur. Mix fresh and serve right away over a single large ice cube.
