This apricot sorbet with raisins and rum is a guilt-free, raw vegan ice-cream ready in less than 5 minutes and ideal as a summer refreshing dessert.
I love sorbets! I never really liked milk-based ice-creams and now that I gave up (or at least avoid as much as possible) dairy products, I enjoy sorbets even more! The great thing about sorbets is that they’re really low in calories, have a high nutrient content because they are usually made with fresh fruits, and they’re light, perfect for a hot summer day!
I don’t have an ice-cream machine (and I don’t think I’ll ever get one) so that is why frozen fruits are the main ingredients in my sorbets recipes. I almost always use frozen bananas as a base ingredient and start adding other fruits for some extra flavor. I always have some frozen banana slices in the freezer. It’s a great way to store very ripe bananas and you can use them for many types of meals, from sorbets to banana bread and even smoothies!
This time I made a super-simple apricot sorbet with raisins for some extra texture and a hint of rum. The result? An awesome healthy treat! This apricot sorbet recipe, as most sorbet recipes, is kid-friendly. It takes only 5 minutes to make it, so it’s really a pity not to treat your children with this sweet healthy dessert, rather than buying processed ones from the store. Don’t worry about the rum, you can use rum essence for kids, but if you make it for yourself or other adults, you can use real rum.
P.S. I just looked on the web for sorbet recipe ideas and found this delicious-looking mango sorbet. It’s definitely on my to-do list!
