Are you looking for some recipe inspiration? In this list, you will find 10+ Cinco de mayo recipes that everyone needs to try. Mexican all the way today!
Cinco de Mayo is such an excellent day to celebrate! First of all, this is the day that celebrates Mexico’s victory against the French at the Battle of Puebla in 1862 and, ever since then, Cinco de Mayo has become an iconic celebration.
Cinco de Mayo is all about Mexican heritage, from music to dancing, costumes, and, of course, food. Lots of food. Drinks as well! But, although this day is pretty popular (especially in the United States), let’s not confuse it with the official Independence Day in Mexico, which takes place on the 16th of September and it symbolizes the Mexican victory against the Spanish.
Cinco de Mayo is usually celebrated with dancing and lots of parades and festivals. People gather on the streets, celebrating everything that Mexico symbolizes – a way of life, in short. Mariachi, Mexican food, and lots of Corona beer, if you want to get a bigger picture.
Of course, food plays an important role in any celebration, especially when it comes to this one. It’s such a good excuse to try as much Mexican food as you can, it would be a shame not to!
We can’t talk about Cinco de Mayo and its celebratory food without knowing a thing or two about Mexican cuisine, of course.
